The City of Falls Church was settled in 1699, taking its name from The Falls Church, which in turn takes its name from Great Falls of the Potomac River.  Falls Church is rich in history and culture, with notable landmarks such as Cherry Hill Farmhouse, a pre-Revolutionary War plantation, and The State Theater, a popular music venue that once operated as a movie theater.  Falls Church residents enjoy easy access to the nation's capital via the Metrorail system.
