Founded in 1847 as a station of the Orange and Alexandria Railroad, Springfield is now the interchange of 1-95, 1-395 and the Capital Beltway. While it has a large commercial district, Springfield is primarily a residential community. The neighborhoods are as diverse as their residents and appeal to singles and families alike. Springfield is also home to Lake Accotink Park, 493 acres of lake, wetlands and streams where visitors can boat, fish, bike and hike.
